Are you in need of an editor?
I have been providing a range of editorial services on a freelance basis since 2011. My clients include Owlkids, Kids Can Press, Annick Press, EcoSpark, York University, as well as writers at various stages in their careers. I have edited both trade and scholarly publications, including novels and academic theses.
As Managing Editor at Owlkids (2011−2013), I copy-edited three magazines (OWL, chickaDEE, and Chirp) and proofread numerous book titles for Canadian and American markets. I also proofread and copy-edited related materials, such as advertisements, grant applications, and terms of agreement documents.
As Managing Editor at Lobster Press (2009−2011), I acquired and edited more than twenty novels, including The Archaeolojesters (2010), which was nominated for the Silver Birch Award and the Manitoba Young Readers' Choice Award.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph, and I have taught creative writing workshops to both children and adults in school and university settings. I am a writer, teacher, and editor, and your manuscript will receive the benefit of this combined experience.
I am experienced in The Chicago Manual of Style, The Canadian Press Stylebook, Canadian Oxford Dictionary, Merriam-Webster, MLA, and APA. I proofread and copy-edit both text-based and highly visual materials. I can help you make sure your documents are consistent and error-free.
I am also available for more substantive work, such as manuscript evaluations, detailed critiques, and line edits. Published authors I have worked with in the past include Andreas Oertel, Edward Willett, Linda DeMeulemeester, and Steven Whibley. I also work with writers who have not yet published and are preparing their manuscripts for submission to agents and publishers.
